Sartorius
The sartorius is the longest muscle in the human body. It is responsible for the hip motion required for crossing your legs or sitting cross-legged on the floor in the tailor's position.
Anatomical Information
•Origin: Anterior superior iliac
spine (ASIS)
•Insertion: Proximal, medial shaft of
the tibia at pes anserinus tendon
•Nerve: Femoral L2, 3, (4)
•Action: Flex the hip, laterally
rotate the hip, & abduct the hip; flex the knee and medially rotate the
flexed knee
